Husqvarna 2-stroke oil comes in three main flavors (XP+, HP, and LS+) and every one of them mixes at the same ratio in your saw: 50:1, or 2.56 oz of oil per US gallon of gas (20 ml per litre). So the ratio question is settled before you reach the shelf. 40:1 or 50:1? It’s 50:1
The most-asked Husqvarna mixing question has a one-word answer: modern Husqvarna two-stroke equipment (chainsaws, string trimmers, leaf blowers) specifies 50:1. Per gallon of fresh 89+ octane gas that’s 2.56 fluid ounces of oil; per litre it’s 20 ml. Husqvarna’s 2.6 oz “one-shot” bottle mixes exactly one gallon at 50:1.
Only very old machines are different: some vintage manuals called for richer mixes like 33:1 with plain mineral oils. If your saw predates the 90s, check the manual; otherwise mix 50:1. For any other gas amount, use the calculator:

Do you have to use Husqvarna oil?
No. The spec matters more than the logo: any high-quality 2-stroke oil rated for air-cooled engines (look for JASO FD on the label) mixed at 50:1 protects a Husqvarna just fine. Stihl’s HP oils, Echo Power Blend, and AMSOIL Saber are all safe substitutes. The two things that will damage the engine are marine TC-W3 outboard oil (formulated for water-cooled engines) and regular 4-stroke motor oil (not low-ash, so it carbons up the exhaust and fouls plugs).
